Annual Pumpkin Carving

The Mr. planted melons this year. I thought they looked surprisingly similar to pumpkins but he was adamant. A few weeks ago we were going to visit the folks and he was so sad he forgot one of his melons to share. We went to eat one the next day and oh if I had captured that dejected look when sure enough, pumpkin. We have been laughing and laughing... We keep wishing he would have brought one to the folks because it would have been so much funnier...at least our reenactments of what would have happened are pretty hilarious.

So last night we had our annual melon pumpkin carving and enjoyed some fam time with our girls. I wish all our FHE nights were so laid back and fun. Guess I can work on that...The Mr. Is not a fan of this holiday but has made it something they look forward to. Our teen even turned down a friend party to stay home and eat Dad's Halloween chicken (the one time he makes dinner during the year and it is awesome!), trick or treat with sisters and watch a movie...She says, "Mom, Halloween is OURS!" love that kid. I love it that they all want to be home and lovey. I know it won't last but I wish I could hold on to it forever...
Crazy hair day... Good thing #3 has a big sis to make her life so fun.

What a way to spend the weekend.

Poor baby had croup. I am thankful for modern medical. We woulda lost her for sure. I have not dealt with croup before and hope to avoid it again. It came on sorta fast and she went from bad to scary bad in a very short time. She is on the mend and scheduled to leave in the morning.

I don't think I will leave home again till May or June. It just isn't worth it. Poor #5...

These big girls love their sis...

Preschool

So so loving this! I did it for the first time at my house this past week and it was awesome. Only 4 kids, only once a week, only one hour. Works really well. Kids were busy and super great. It was a ball. I am so thankful to have this come into my life. A great neighbor lady set it up and I am so happy she did! My #4 has something to look forward to and if she misses, I am not paying a ton so no stress....i had her in with a neighbor last year and she was great but I just felt like I shouldn't do again. I have enjoyed a calmer pace with her. It has all worked out for the best!

Train Tracks...

She is handling it well. The ortho did ask about 3 or 4 times how old she was. Dang kid. She is so lovely and confident and tall. The sad part about her braces? She probably wouldn't need them if she wouldn't have broke off her two front teeth
(bike reck in 5th...). I think I am so clever getting her braces right before Halloween. Ok, just kidding, it was coincidence.

My mad skills...

I have been meaning to get some books forever ago and finally ordered them.

And look at the size of the tiny one. I figure God knew I would only get through a tiny book and I really need to get through it. I went back to see and it says right on the order that it is a miniature version.  Oh my. I have had it for a few weeks now and haven't finished it yet...Maybe I need to put more time aside to read!

Let the shopping begin...Christmas...2012

Christmas time... Usually I just go buy myself what I want but then I feel funny, like I don't know, silly that I bought my own gifts. So, this year, I am telling him what to buy, which doesn't really make much more since. I am still getting the same stuff but now I am making more work for my busy hubby. THIS is what I want for Christmas. Mine is dull and it makes the BEST sweet potato fries with THIS recipe. Okay, I do, when I use the Veg-O-Matic to cut them up! And maybe a ring...I am not sure though. I need something simple and everyday-ish...

How do you guys do it? What makes your marriage work? What is on your Christmas list?

Hubby Chores...

Think my hubby has some time to make THIS awesomeness? I think I better make him some. I want to have it! Do you think the shelf underneath will bug? Too many crumbs will catch. Now what? Maybe THIS? That looks better. No crumbs. What are you wanting your hubbies to make for you?

Pinterest is awesome. I love all the ideas. Here is one that I just did and LOVE! I used a roll of paper from ikea and a tension rod. Slapped it under our kitchen table and away we go. This is so fun... the only problem? We keep forgetting it is there! I love having the paper so handy and out of the way at the same time...Come over and color with us!

As Kahlil Gibran said, “Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. ”

Understanding Candida and Natural Approaches

I have not had time to listen to this but I wanted to put this somewhere I could find it. I am struggling with this and trying to get a grip on it. Yuck. If anybody has anything to share, please do, but please only personal experiences. I have cut out bunches and try to continue to do so but it is hard when the American diet is so based on white flour and sugar. I am trying to change our lifestyle a for my whole family too.  I am taking some herbs and looking into the oils.
